About Ankit
Ankit Kumar is a mortgage broker with Team Active Mortgage who loves helping newcomers and first-time buyers. He takes the time to teach them how the mortgage system works and keeps educating them throughout the process. Ankit has been a mortgage broker for a year, and before that he spent six years in real estate and banking. He's based in Bridgewater, serves the whole South Shore, and works virtually with clients across Nova Scotia. Buying his own home was one of the most stressful processes Ankit has been through, and he wished he'd met a mortgage broker back then. That's why he does this work: to educate his clients and make the process smooth. His approach is friendly, more like a teacher than a salesperson. Outside work, Ankit is a father of two who keep him busy. He loves getting out on the trails and into nature with friends and family, exploring new cultures and their customs, and cooking, which is a real passion. He speaks English, Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu.

Frequently asked questions
Does it cost anything to work with a Team Active Mortgage broker?
For standard residential mortgages, brokers are typically paid by the lender when the mortgage funds, so there is usually no fee to you. Some files, such as private or certain alternative lending, can involve fees. Any fee is disclosed to you in writing before you commit.
What documents will I need?
Usually government-issued photo ID, proof of income (recent pay stubs and an employment letter, or two years of tax returns and Notices of Assessment if self-employed), proof of your down payment, and details of debts and assets. Your broker will confirm the exact list for your situation.
How does switching lenders at renewal work?
When your term ends you can move your remaining balance to a new lender instead of signing your current lender's renewal offer. You re-qualify with the new lender, and the switch is arranged to take effect at maturity. Start the conversation a few months before your renewal date.
