About Jessica
Jessica especially loves working with self-employed clients, whose income doesn't always fit neatly into a bank's checklist. She's been a mortgage broker for a year. Before that, she spent seven years in auto finance, structuring loans and helping people get approved. Jessica became a broker because she believes getting a mortgage shouldn't feel overwhelming, intimidating or confusing. Buying a home, renewing, or figuring out how to manage debt is stressful enough without feeling like you're doing it alone. With Jessica, you get a real person on your side, not a robot. She works with clients across Nova Scotia, including outside Halifax, and most of her work happens over the phone, so it's easy to get started wherever you are. Outside work, you'll usually find Jessica with her dog or out scuba diving.

Does it cost anything to work with a Team Active Mortgage broker?
For standard residential mortgages, brokers are typically paid by the lender when the mortgage funds, so there is usually no fee to you. Some files, such as private or certain alternative lending, can involve fees. Any fee is disclosed to you in writing before you commit.
What documents will I need?
Usually government-issued photo ID, proof of income (recent pay stubs and an employment letter, or two years of tax returns and Notices of Assessment if self-employed), proof of your down payment, and details of debts and assets. Your broker will confirm the exact list for your situation.
How does switching lenders at renewal work?
When your term ends you can move your remaining balance to a new lender instead of signing your current lender's renewal offer. You re-qualify with the new lender, and the switch is arranged to take effect at maturity. Start the conversation a few months before your renewal date.
