Vatsal Barot is a mortgage broker with Team Active Mortgage who loves helping newcomers to Canada build their first credit and buy their first home. He also works with first-time buyers, self-employed clients with non-traditional income, including truckers and trades, and real estate investors, from a first rental to multi-unit, construction and commercial files. He helps with small business and commercial purchases too.

Vatsal has been a licensed mortgage broker in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick for more than two years, now with Mortgage Architects. Before that, he spent three years as a Financial Advisor at TD. He's a real estate investor himself, with multiple rentals and a commercial property in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, and he co-owns several restaurants in both provinces, so he understands how business owners earn and finance.

A mortgage is usually the biggest financial decision people make, and Vatsal wants every client to feel confident and understood, not just approved. Having been through it himself as a newcomer and as an investor, he likes making the process simpler. He speaks English, Gujarati, Hindi and Punjabi. Outside work, he lives in Halifax with his partner, Pankti, and their daughter, Veda. He's a co-founder of MyRentSimple, a rental property management platform for small Atlantic Canadian landlords, and he loves cooking. Pasta is his specialty.
