Background
Michael Makhoul is a mortgage broker with Team Active Mortgage who loves helping first-time buyers get into their first home. Before mortgages, he spent six years in banking, including investment consulting and commercial banking, so he brings a solid understanding of how lenders think and how a mortgage fits into your bigger financial picture.
Michael is based mainly in Montreal and also serves clients in Ottawa, as well as across Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada. He was born and raised in Ottawa and splits his time between Halifax, Montreal and Ottawa, so he knows these communities firsthand. He speaks English, French and Arabic.
What Michael enjoys most is the people. Everyone has their own story, and he takes the time to get to know his clients as people while he helps them find the right mortgage. He also says he's lucky to work with a great team.
Michael holds the Personal Financial Services Advice (PFSA) designation from the Canadian Securities Institute and a Certificate in Program Management from MSP Foundations. Outside work, he's a reservist with the Canadian Armed Forces. He likes staying in shape, going to music festivals and travelling in Europe.
